In case you’re wondering, this isn’t CA…
The short version…
Delay. Delay. We’re on our way. “No seat for you,” “Oh, yes, you do…” In flight. Cabin pressure not right. (Do the hokey pokey and you…) Turn yourself around. Landing gear down. Springfield bound.
Line. Line. Line. Line. Line.
Do you know the way to San Jose?
It’s via Dallas early Friday.
Only one short hour north of Monterey.
Rent a car and take a drive.
California dream still alive.
Tomorrow is a new day…
I’m baaaaack! This little ditty came up on my Facebook memories and I decided to share it, as I return to publishing on my blog.
It referred to the first day of travel last year to a yoga retreat in Big Sur, CA. For me, it was a return trip to the beautiful area, as I had visited (and blogged about it) before. I was so excited to be heading there with friends I had previously attended a yoga retreat with.
However, the day ended with my feet firmly in Missouri soil, not California sand. But, this is shared from the perspective of the rear view mirror. Travel doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes you have to be flexible and creative, change plans, ask questions and advocate for yourself (politely…you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.)
And, we actually lost nothing. Our awesome retreat leader, Chelsea Dygart (Conscious Enterprises), added and extra visit to Pfeiffer Beach (home of my beloved purple sand). The lodge allowed us to exchange the night we missed to add an extra day. The airline allowed us to switch flights and return home one day later. My friend and roommate for the retreat, Lindsay, and I rented a car for the day after the retreat and explored the area on our own.
And… I’m pretty sure it was due to a flight agent that I monikered, “Cool Beans,” because of his frequent use of this phrase as he rescheduled my return flight, I flew the first leg back in first class. (Remember the honey???)
Sometimes the adventure in traveling has nothing to do with the destination.
It’s the journey.
And the journey continues…
I’ve been a few places that I’ll be sharing about soon and I have some upcoming travel adventures in the next few months. Stay tuned!
